golden huggs rescue, inc.
Golden Huggs Rescue is made up of a very small group of volunteers who have made it our mission to find loving suitable homes for (otherwise) displaced, abandoned, or stray dogs with golden personalities with our partners outside of New England.
Our dogs have either been relinquished by their owners, found as strays, or abandoned at the shelter door. It is irrelevant to us how they have managed to find themselves in these circumstances. It is only in their best interest that we try in earnest to get them out.
All of our volunteers have been involved in the rescue and placing of dogs for years. We are committed to doing our part to decrease the numbers of dogs that are euthanized at primarily southern shelters.
we are a family
We strive to keep in touch with as many of our adopters as possible through a variety of different local functions and fund raising events, through email and social media posts. Many of our adopters have adopted from us more than once and some have even become volunteers.
We are a foster based rescue, which means that we do not have a facility that you can visit. Most of our dogs come to us from our rescue partners in areas outside of New England, taken from kill shelters where they have landed due to no fault of their own - many are strays, others have been turned in by their owners. Because of their various backgrounds, we rarely have any medical or ownership history on them. All of our dogs are vetted age appropriate meaning they are spay or neutered and given all necessary vaccines. Together with our vet we will treat them for medical issues that are diagnosed. When they are ready to go to their forever homes, our dogs are transported with a USDA certified transport company (www.petsllc.net) and require a license to cross state lines (aka a health certificate) to travel.
For additional information about who we are and how the adoption process works, check out our adoption information.
All our adoption fees include spay/neutering and vetting prior to transport, as well as transportation fees.
- Puppies (< 1 year old): $575
- Adults (1 yr. - 8 yrs): $550
- Seniors (8+ yrs.: $400
*The adoption fee paid to a rescue which has 501(c)(3) non-profit status cannot be claimed as a deductible charitable donation on the adopter's income tax return. However, any additional donation made over and above the standard fee is deductible.
Fees are current as of April 2018 and are subject to change.

donation or pay your adoption fee
Golden Huggs Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. Often our adoption fees do not cover all of the fees for the rescue, foster care, vetting (including spay and neuter fees) and transportation costs to bring our pups from our rescue partners in the south to the forever homes in New England. We gladly accept donations to keep our all-volunteer organization running.
share the love - make a donation
Your donation will be used to help pay for food, medical bills, vetting costs, and transportation fees. 100% of the funds that we need to operate come from adoption fees and donations from our friends and supporters.
