Thank You for Considering Adoption

What to expect during the application and adoption process

  1. The first step is to fill out the adoption application. Be sure to answer each question with as much detail as you can. The more you tell us about you and your lifestyle the easier it will be for us to process your application.

  2. Our adoption team will review your application and determine if your application meets our requirements to adopt. One of our adoption coordinators will reach out to you via email to set up a phone interview. Please check your Spam folder in case our email ends up there.

  3. During the phone interview, our coordinator will explain what happens next. We may ask to conduct a home visit or a virtual visit.

Please understand that all our adoption coordinators are volunteers which could mean a short lag time before you are contacted.

What we consider in approving an application and
making the best match possible

  1. Applicants should be able to provide proper care, exercise, and training for the lifetime of a dog. Keep in mind this could be a 10 plus year commitment.

  2. Applicants must be at least 25 years old.

  3. No children in the household under the age of five.

  4. All dogs need exercise, socialization, and companionship. Each dog is unique in what they will need. Family time away from home during the day will help determine what age, breed and temperament will fit into your home. Young pups need someone home more often than older dogs. Long hours in a crate is not acceptable.

  5. Outdoor pens or overhead runs are not acceptable forms of containment.

  6. For safety reasons, all dogs should be on a leash when outside unless they are in a secure fenced area. Dogs should never be left outside alone.

Fees

Adoption fees will cover transportation costs, vetting, heartworm testing and treatment if needed. All adoptable pups and dogs will be up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines and will be altered if age permits. Fees could vary, depending on what is included with each dog.
